The Nautical Schools of Mexico offer two undergraduate
programs: Deck Officer, additionally obtaining the title of
Geographical and Hydrographical Engineer, and Naval Machinist
with the title of Naval Mechanical Engineer. Furthermore,
specialized courses and training are provided to maritime and port
personnel.
Education at Nautical Schools is based on international standards
that the contracting countries of the International Convention on
Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping for
Seafarers (STCW) must mandatorily uphold. These standards are
subject to continuous updates as agreed upon by the international
maritime community.
The studies have a duration of four years under a boarding regime.
The educational methods and didactic techniques employed go
beyond the mere transmission of knowledge, as they prioritize the
development of skills and competencies. They foster the logical-
mathematical reasoning required by the engineering field, as well
as leadership, discipline, responsibility, and values that enable
students to succeed in the maritime transportation industry.
The studies offered at Nautical Schools are nationally endorsed by
the Ministry of Public Education and the Maritime Authority,
while the degrees and endorsements granted are globally recognized by the International Maritime Organization.
Upon completion of the undergraduate programs, Merchant
Marine officers continue their professional development through
Update and Graduate courses aimed at providing them with
complementary knowledge for corresponding promotions, as well
as the specialization required for the operation of various vessels,
in accordance with the guidelines established in the STCW
International Convention.
Furthermore, the Further Education Program coordinates various
Diplomas and a Master in Science of Business Administration for
Shipping companies and Ports, with the aim of training
professionals with the knowledge and managerial skills necessary
to plan cargo transport chains. It also provides specialization in
the maritime and port sector that qualifies them for the practice of
the profession in the legal-business environment related to
maritime transportation, in private companies, or in various bodies
and agencies of public administration dealing with matters related
to commercial maritime navigation Training courses are also
provided for technical personnel performing support functions on
board a vessel or subordinate personnel.
